A tough group for year 7 but they manage to win 1 of 3 group games to qualify for the bowl knockouts! Some great determination shown in the 2 narrow losses. Next game 3.40pm. pic.twitter.com/TEFYdoLEHH— Stanwell School PE () April 19, 2024

Burns’ Night

For the people of Scotland, and anyone of Scottish heritage, Burns Night, held on or around 25th January each year, is one of the most important events of the year. The day celebrates the Poems and Songs of Robert Burns, who was also often called Rabbie Burns, with a celebration meal and festivities that includes poetry reading and singing. One of his most famous poems, ‘To a Mouse’ is referenced in the title of one of our GCSE texts: ‘Of Mice and Men’ by John Steinbeck. He has inspired generations of writers, from Scotland and beyond.

Holocaust Memorial Day

We mark Holocaust Memorial Day on the 27th January, to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi Persecution and in genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. 27 January marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. Together we bear witness for those who endured genocide, and honour the survivors and all those whose lives were changed beyond recognition.
