A Level Results 2013

Stanwell students continue to excel and this year’s A Level examination results are once again outstanding. 35 per cent of all grades achieved were A* or A grades.

Of particular note, students studying Mathematics were awarded 42 A* or A grades (58% of entry).

A total of 44 A* grades were awarded to Stanwell students (8% of entry).

An impressive 364 A* to B grades were achieved at A2 level (64% of entry); additionally, 192 students (97%) achieved the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate qualification.

  • James Chaffey (2 A* grades, 1 B grade and Welsh Bacc)
  • Benedict Jackson (2 A* grades, 1 B grade and Welsh Bacc)
  • Frankie Law (1 A* grade, 3 A grades and Welsh Bacc)
  • Amy Palin (1 A* grade, 3 A grades and Welsh Bacc)
  • Jemima Bushby (1 A* grade, 2 A grades and Welsh Bacc)
  • Beth Hopkins (1 A* grade, 2 A grades and Welsh Bacc)
  • Isabella MacGregor (1 A* grade, 2 A grades and Welsh Bacc)
  • Rachel Mahoney (1 A* grade, 2 A grades and Welsh Bacc)
  • Alexandra Nickels (1 A* grade, 2 A grades and Welsh Bacc)
  • Dan Seal (1 A* grade, 2 A grades and Welsh Bacc)
  • Bethan Morgan (1 A* grade, 2 A grades and Welsh Bacc)
  • Alistair Hill (1 A* grade, 2 A grades, 1 B grade and Welsh Bacc)

This year the Average Points Score per Pupil for the Year 13 cohort (197 students) is 1128 points, which exceeds four A grades for every student.  This is the second highest ever achieved by Stanwell pupils following the very successful introduction of the Advanced Level Welsh Baccalaureate.

Particularly pleased with the students’ achievements were the Geography, Drama and History Departments where 89%, 82% and 81% of the candidates achieved A* to B grades.

Mr Tony Rogers, Chair of Governors, commented “This has been another very good year for the school. We would like to congratulate all members of Year 13 on their success and are grateful for all the support given by parents and staff to ensure that our students fulfil their potential.”

Mr Robin Relph, Head of Sixth Form, stated “It has been a hugely successful morning and all members of the Sixth Form team are absolutely delighted that so many of our Year 13s have done well enough to secure places at their first choice universities. We congratulate all of our students on their achievements and wish them continued success in everything they do in the future. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have worked with this group of young people.”
