Posted on: Thursday 16th August 2018
It has been another hugely successful morning for Stanwell 6th form pupils as they received their A level and AS examination results. Stanwell are delighted that so many Year 13 pupils have done well enough to secure places at their first choice universities and are very proud of the impressive results achieved by so many Stanwell students.
The excellent results are a testimony to the effort and commitment shown by students and staff and stand as further confirmation that excellent standards in learning and teaching continue to be at the forefront of the school’s ethos.
At A level, 37 % of all grades were A* or A, with 83 % of the year group achieving A* to C overall. Of particular note, students studying mathematics were awarded 58 A* or A grades (58% of entry). In addition, the art, chemistry, drama, English literature, film studies, German, media studies, medical science and physics departments were also very pleased with the students’ results, where 75%, 83%, 82%, 76%, 79%, 100%, 78%, 71% and 84% of the candidates secured A* to B respectively.
Overall, there were a very impressive 89 A* grades (11% of entry) and 527 A* to B grades (65% of entry including the Welsh Baccalaureate). Furthermore, 223 students (95%) achieved the Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate.
Excellent A level results have once again put Stanwell students amongst the top performers in Wales, with many individuals securing truly exceptional grades. 61 of them (26%) achieved the equivalent of 3 A grades or better.
