The Art Department is a housed in a dedicated, well equipped and self contained building. There are three main teaching areas with a purpose built dark room in the converted loft.
The department, led by Miss Lewis, is an experienced and talented team, comprising of Mrs. Penny, Miss Owens and Miss Howe with assistance from Mr. D. Rowles and Miss K. Royle. We also make good use of classroom assistants and Sixth form art students to support those in need.
The department runs regular Art Clubs and Homework Clubs and organises visits to London and local art galleries. Pupils consistently achieve grades and levels well above the National Average.

On Thursday 18th March, sixth form Art and Design pupils were greeted by the Art Foundation Course director, Mr Richard Waring and shown around the Howard Gardens campus where they chatted with students and lecturers and familiarised themselves with the foundation course. The sixth form thoroughly enjoyed this very informative visit as it gave them an insight into the next step available to them if they decide to follow an art and/or design career path.
