Stanwell School provides a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum which contributes tto pupils' moral and spiritual development.  The curriculum is designed as a preparation for adult society and the world of work.

Summary

The Key Stage 3 curriculum fulfils the legal requirements of the National Curriculum. Additional subjects that enhance the curriculum include Drama, a second Modern Foreign Language, Learning Support and Learning to Learn.

In Key Stage 4 most subjects are taught to GCSE (Level 2). The curriculum consists of compulsory subjects and option subjects, for which pupils have a free choice.

At Post 16 pupils have a free choice of up to five AS subjects as well as the compulsory study of The Welsh Baccalaureate in Year 12. In Year 13 pupils are offered to continue their option subjects to A2 Level, and complete their Welsh Baccalaureate qualification. GCSE courses in Mathematics and English Language are also offered.

Key Skills are delivered across the curriculum in all Key Stages.

A holistic approach for Work Related Education operates within the curriculum of all Key Stages.

Religious Education is taught in line with the guidelines of the Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.

Sex Education is included within the PSE programme, and in some curriculum areas, where questions are answered within the wider context of the moral and legal implications.

A programme of individual counselling, meetings with parents, personal and social education, careers education and work experience is used to meet the individual needs of pupils.
