Dragons’ Den

Dragon's Den

Posted on: Tuesday 30th September 2014

On Tuesday 23rd September Year 12 took part in a “Dragons’ Den” activity as part of the team Enterprise element of the Welsh Baccalaureate. Following the Enterprise Day on 12th September, each group has been busy devising a product to sell at Stanwell’s Open Day on 21st October. Team members made a five minute “pitch” to a panel of local business people in order to bid for a school loan to set up their business. The presentations included details of the product and intended market, as well as a breakdown of costs and projected profit. Although daunting, the experience proved beneficial as many groups reported that the “Dragons” offered very positive feedback and advice. We are very grateful to the following friends of Stanwell who gave so generously of their time to make this experience a worthwhile one for the students:

  • Jo Roberts (Fabulous Welshcakes)
  • Krystyna Huelin (Handywoman)
  • Kevin Ireland (Delta Properties)
  • Martin Blamey (formerly of Careers Wales)
  • Dr Jo Macpherson (IMSPEX)
  • Jonathan Evans (Penarth Travel)
  • David Lush (Lush Butchers, Penarth)
  • Sue Davies (Board member of CTU charity)
  • Jodie Tanner (Queen Bee, Penarth)
  • Emma Ware (A Class Apart, Dinas Powys)
