French Department

Head of Department      : Mr. B Hully

Stanwell's French Department is a thriving and successful department which has been at the forefront of the school's success over the years. With six full time members of staff, they offer a blend of youth and experience and a wealth of skills and knowledge.

All pupils in Key Stage 3 study French on arrival at Stanwell, and many go on to pursue the language with great success at GCSE. The remarkable success of large numbers of students at AS and A Level bear witness to the opportunities available within the department.

The department embraces all aspects of new technology in its teaching methods. There is access to a dedicated digitally-based language learning facility in S2, where many pupils practise their skills and extend their knowledge using dedicated software and online learning facilities.

As well as the on-site activities, the Department also runs a full programme of visits to France. For example Year 7 pupils are regularly offered the chance to visit the Seaside town Of Boulogne, whilst other year groups can taste the cultural delights of Paris and the Parc Disneyland.
