On February 2nd-3rd, Year 12 visited the Townsend Residential Study Centre in Swanage, Dorset to carry out a coastal fieldwork investigation using a number of fieldwork techniques. Despite the wind and rain, the pupils carried out beach profiling and measured the speed of longshore drift. Time was also spent assessing the beach management techniques that have been put in place and evaluating their effectiveness. The pupils participated fully and conducted themselves fantastically in difficult conditions and showed impressive levels of understanding and application in the classroom sessions that were held.
