Fieldwork

As a department we firmly believe that fieldtrips are an important tool for learning. We can learn different geographical skills on them, work as part of a team, develop important presentation skills, visit new places and discover a unique fashion sense involving mainly wellies and fleeces!

Key Stage 4

As part of the Geography GCSE course pupils are required to undertake both physical and human fieldwork. This is linked directly to their units of study and improves their knowledge of fieldwork techniques and enhances their theoretical understanding of patterns and processes in local areas. Tenby, Cowbridge and Southern Down are visited during the course.

Key Stage 5 (6th Form)

As part of the AS course students have to apply fieldwork techniques and investigational skills to their G1 and G2 examination responses. Fieldwork is also an important part of the A Level course in Year 13 whereby students undertake and Individual Research Investigation based on a range of topics set out by the WJEC examination board.
