Britain c.1500-1900 and aspects of the Twentieth Century


Year 7

In Year 7 pupils study Medieval Wales and Britain c1000-1500. Pupils are taught about the major political, religious and social changes and challenges which shaped the history of Wales and Britain.

Three major aspects studied:

  • Autumn Term - William how he became king and how he controlled his kingdom
  • Spring Term - Medieval Society including village life, the church, and medicine
  • Summer Term - Political Challenges to the Throne including Thomas Becket and Owain Glyndwr

Year 8

In Year 8 pupils have the opportunity to build on the knowledge, understanding and skills acquired in Year 7. Pupils are taught about the major changes and the effects these had on Wales and Britain.

This will include:

  • The major political and religious changes which shaped the history of Wales and Britain.
  • The changes in institutions such as the church, the monarchy and Parliament and the effects these had on Wales and Britain.
  • Aspects of the twentieth century.
