Independent Admission Appeal Panel Members
Posted on: Thursday 29th September 2016
Panel members are needed to join an independent panel that adjudicates on appeals where a parent has been refused a place for their child at Stanwell School.
Applications are invited from people of all backgrounds as the panel is made up of ‘lay’ members and ‘non lay’ members.
An admission appeals panel must consist of at least 3 or 5 members.
Each panel must consist of:
- At least one lay member. This means people without personal experience in the management of any school or the provision of education in any school. People with experience in education in a voluntary capacity or as governor would be permitted.
- At least one non lay member. This means a person with experience in education, who is acquainted with educational conditions in the Vale of Glamorgan area, or who is the parent of a pupil registered at another school.
Appeal panel members are paid a fee to cover travel and subsistence for the work they do. The amount of appeals that members attend during the year depends on their availability and personal commitments. Hearings take place during the day and are usually either half or full day. Full training will be provided for new members. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Training for posts will be taking place on Wednesday 23rd November, 10am at Stanwell School and all prospective panel members will need to attend this training. Please forward your application to: Mrs Natalie O’Leary, Stanwell School, Archer Road, Penarth, CF64 2XL, email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
