girls-happy-resultsYear 11 pupils at Stanwell School have once again enjoyed outstanding achievements at GCSE level. Sixty seven pupils achieved 10 A grades or better, with the following 11 pupils being awarded 11 A* grades or more:

  • Eve Carter (14 A* grades)
  • Emma Hughes (14 A* grades)
  • Tomos Davies (14 A* grades & 1 A grade)
  • Ellie Herve (14 A* grades & 1 A grade)
  • Leah Byrne (13 A* grades & 1 A grade)
  • Rob Jones (13 A* grades & 1 A grade)
  • Isobel Sinnott-Newland (12 A* grades & 2 A grades)
  • Joseph Pollock (12 A* grades & 3 A grades)
  • Tom Rose (11 A* grades & 3 A grades)
  • Sion Thomas (11 A* grades & 4 A grades)
  • Rachel Rourke (11 A* grades, 3 A grades & 1 B grade)

The percentage of A* grades achieved by pupils has risen this year to 16% and overall more than 1350 entries were graded A* or A, which equates to 38% of all entries.

A record number of 264 Stanwell pupils achieved 5 or more level 2 passes (92%). The average points per pupil of 589 is equivalent to over 10 A* grades for every pupil in the year group.

A* Grades

The percentage of A* grades achieved by pupils has risen this year to 16% and overall more than 1350 entries were graded A* or A, which equates to 38% of all entries. A record number of 264 Stanwell pupils achieved 5 or more level 2 passes (92%). The average points per pupil of 589 is equivalent to over 10 A* grades for every pupil in the year group.

Widespread Success

The success of pupils was widespread across the curriculum, with the A* & A grades exceeding 30% of the entry for 17 departments. Particularly pleased with the students’ achievements were the Head of Religious Studies and the Head of Mathematics with 93 and 77 A* grades respectively. Equally impressive were the achievements of pupils who studied vocational qualifications in partnership with Cardiff and the Vale and the Military Preparation Colleges.

Comments

Year 11 Tutor, Mr Barry Crompton, said “It is a delight to see the hard work of the pupils, and support given by parents and staff being rewarded with so many students achieving their potential and obtaining high grades.”

Assistant Headteacher, Mr James Mansfield, was especially pleased to see high numbers of pupils achieving the required grades to follow their chosen subjects in the sixth form and commented that “pupils had worked with diligence and commitment in the lead up to the examinations and the excellent results were well deserved”.
