A Level Results 2016

It has been another hugely successful morning for Stanwell 6th form pupils as they received their A level and AS examination results. Stanwell are delighted that so many Year 13 pupils have done well enough to secure places at their first choice universities and are very proud of the impressive results achieved by so many Stanwell students. The excellent results are a testimony to the effort and commitment shown by students and staff and stand as further confirmation that excellent standards in learning and teaching continue to be at the forefront of the school’s ethos.
At A level, 31 per cent of all grades were A* or A with 87 per cent of the year group achieving A* to C overall. Of particular note, students studying mathematics were awarded 40 A* or A grades (57% of entry). In addition, the computing, French, film studies and German departments were also very pleased with the student’s results, where 80%, 83%, 75% and 75% of the candidates secured A* to B, respectively.
Overall, there were a very impressive 101 A* grades including the Welsh Bacc (14% of entry) and 473 A* to B grades (63% of entry with the Welsh Bacc). Furthermore, 203 students (98% of entry) achieved the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma.
Excellent A level results once again put Stanwell students amongst the top performers in Wales, with many individuals securing truly exceptional grades. An impressive 43 students achieved 3 A grades or better, including the Welsh Bacc. Stanwell would like to congratulate all pupils in our 2016 cohort including of course, our highest achievers:

- Evgenia Brusnitskaya (2 A* grades, 1 A grade and 1 B grade)
This year the average points score per pupil for the Year 13 cohort (207 students) is 1074 points, which is approximately the equivalent of four A grades for every student.
Mr M Lewis, Assistant Headteacher, commented that, “This year’s impressive A level results are well deserved. It is most satisfying to see our students achieve their full potential and it has been a pleasure and privilege to have worked with this group of young people”. Mr Tony Rogers, Chair of Governors stated, “This has been another very good year for the school; we congratulate all of our students on their achievements and wish them continued success in everything they do in the future.”
