Military Preparation College Awards

Posted on: Wednesday 29th April 2015

On Tuesday 28th April the MPCT held its annual Awards Ceremony. Ten Stanwell Year 11 pupils attend MPCT one day a week and study BTEC Public Services, along with many pupils from other schools from Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan. The Awards Ceremony was for MPCT’s three South Wales Centres: Cardiff, Rhumney and Bridgend. This makes the achievements of the Stanwell pupils even more prestigious. The afternoon started with a fabulous display of PT skills and students on parade, followed by presentations by the pupils. We were delighted to win the Schools’ Award for the Cardiff Centre and Jane Norton collected the award on behalf of the school. In addition to this great achievement, there were many individual winners:

  • Winner of the Most Promising Student: Rebecca Johnson
  • Winner of the Best PT Male: Morgan Rees
  • Nominated for the Players’ Player: Amy Stanton-Foo and David Warner
  • Nominated for the Best Academic Portfolio: Ffion Phillips and Jasmine Rahman
  • Nominated for the Best PT Female: Amy Stanton-Foo
  • Public Speaking Awards: Charles de Grey, Rebecca Johnson, Morgan Rees, Jasmine Rahman, Amy Stanton-Foo

A special thanks from the school goes to Charles de Grey, Rebecca Johnson, Amy Stanton-Foo, and Morgan Rees for volunteering to reading ‘If’, MPCT’s poem by Rudyard Kipling.
