Head boy and Head girl We are delighted to announce that the student leadership team has been chosen for the next academic year 2012-3. After a rigorous process involving student and staff ballots, speeches and interviews, Catherine Porteus has been chosen as Head Girl and Lloyd Allen as Head Boy.

Under 16s rugby international Harry Roberts of Year 11 was selected for the Welsh Under 16 squad and spent a week during the Easter holidays training and playing in an international tournament in Wellington, England.

International Sailing Matthew Whitfield of Year 10 and David Pain of Year 11 were selected to represent Great Britain in the Irish Youth National Sailing Championship over the Easter holidays. The boys travelled with the British squad to Dublin for 6 days of training and competing.

Young Enterprise Success - Regional Champions This year the Cardiff and Vale Young Enterprise regional finals were held at City Hall on the 27th March. Stanwell had four companies entering; a company from Year 12 ‘Y.

P.E. and Sports Fixtures Fixtures – Mon 26th March – Yr 9 rugby v Cowbridge (A), Yr 10 Rugby v Bro Morgannwg (H). Wed 28th March – Yr 9 Netball tournament at Cowbridge (3.30pm). Yr 7 Football v Glyn Derw (A).

Sports Relief Next Friday 23rd March, Stanwell will be holding our Sport Relief Mile in order to raise funds for the national campaign. Pupils and staff wishing to take part are asked for a donation of £1 and should arrive at school dressed in their PE kit.

Six Nations Rugby In recognition of Stanwell entering the Welsh Schools Cup Competition at senior level, the Welsh Schools Rugby Union has recently committed to donating 2 tickets for every home match in the forthcoming six nations competition.

Conservation project On Friday 24th February, representatives of the Stanwell eco-committee from all year groups were pleased to host a conservation day working alongside eco-committee members from Evenlode, Albert, Sully, Victoria and Fairfield Primary Schools.
