The curtain has now fallen on our senior production of ‘Phantom of the Opera’ which has been such a magical experience for all those involved. The whole school is so proud of our immensely talented performers and musicians and we are so grateful to the staff who dedicated such large amounts of their lives to making the show such an incredible success. There have been many highlights; masterclass coaching for the principals by West End star Peter Karrie, a personal message from Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber himself and innumerable compliments from members of the audience and professional singers on the standard that our Stanwell stars achieved.

We are also very grateful for the support received from parents, current and former pupils and friends of the school in the wider community who were wonderful audiences for the four sell-out nights of the show’s run.

Congratulations for Haaris Khan of Year 7 who is a promising young boxer in the 40kg weight category. Haaris started boxing aged 9 and is a member of the Penarth ABC Boxing club. He has boxed in two fixtures since September; the first of which was stopped in the second round! He is an all-round sportsman and went straight from playing rugby for the school to his second bout on Friday 9^th December, which he won on points. His ambition is to box for Great Britain at the Olympics and win a gold medal and we look forward to following his career with interest.

The theme of this year’s Eco Stanwell week was ‘Water’. During the week, all year groups had the opportunity to explore the impact of water on our lives and on those in developing nations.  To support our water campaign and to reduce the amount of plastic cup waste at Stanwell, all year 7s were given a Stanwell Water bottle for free. These are also available to purchase for teachers and students of other year groups.
