The Annual School Quiz- Keep an eye out for the date in the school newsletters (usually January or February)
Building on the success of previous years, the Stanwell School PTA quiz will take place in early 2011. To keep your spirits up there is always a licensed bar and a platter of food available.
It is a quiz with broad appeal and always well attended with excellent questions. In 2010 the questions were written and presented by Quizmaster Alun Jenkins.
By a strange coincidence the team who won the raffle also went on to win the quiz. If the team would like to get in touch I will immortalise their name in print on these pages, possibly even a photo.
Staying on the subject of the Stanwell quiz can anyone tell me what Prince Charles, Phil ‘the power' Taylor and Norman Wisdom have in common?
The Pound Walk
Another date established in the calendar is the ‘Pound Walk' where the PTA takes on a long distance walk over mountains and valleys to raise money for the school - preferably when the weather gets warmer (and drier?), usually in May.
The walks origins lie in PTA support for the Duke of Edinburgh, where some of us still think we are fit enough to have our own expedition. This year we will be walking from Tredegar in the Sirhowy Valley to Tredegar House in Newport (26 miles). We shall see how far we get.
Although there is no particular fund raising activity with this walk you can support it by buying raffle tickets at the various PTA supported events in the school.
