Royal College of Psychiatrists Debate
Posted on: Friday 02nd December 2016
Year 12 Psychology students were delighted to be invited to the Royal College of Psychiatrists Young People’s Mental Health Debate entitled ‘this house believes we are too concerned with how we look’. The debate was opened by the Children’s Commissioner for Wales (Sally Holland) and then a panel of psychiatrists discussed the motion, covering topics such as eating disorders and the role of social media in influencing body image. Students were given the opportunity to question the panel, put forward their own points of view and vote on the motion. It was a privilege to attend and the students enjoyed the opportunity to discuss such a contemporary and controversial issue.
