Year 12 Enterprise
Posted on: Sunday 06th October 2013
On Friday 20th September, the Year 12 Team Enterprise groups experienced a “Dragons’ Den” activity as part of their Welsh Baccalaureate. Following the Enterprise Day on 12th September each group has been busy devising a product to sell at Open Day on 8th October. On Friday team members made a five- minute “pitch” to the “Dragons” (local business people) to bid for a school loan in order to set up their business.
The presentations included details of the product and intended market, as well as a breakdown of costs and projected profit. Although daunting, the experience proved beneficial as many groups reported that the “Dragons” offered very positive feedback and advice.
We are very grateful to the following friends of Stanwell who gave so generously of their time to make this experience a worthwhile one for the students: Jo Roberts (Fabulous Welshcakes); Krystyna Huelin (Handywoman); Ginetta Kent (GH Stationers); Karl Yeo (Greenlight Products); Kevin Ireland (Delta Properties); Foxy (Foxy’s Delicatessen); Richard Snell (A. B. Snell Newsagent and Stationers);Rob Williams (local building company); Stewart Humphreys (formerly of Coke); Martin Blamey (formerly of Careers Wales) and Clare Hughes.
