Excellence in karate

Regular readers of our column will remember our talented athletes Alexandra Slack, Christopher Slack, Max Baker and Emma Squire who have excelled in karate competitions for a number of years. On Sunday 22nd February 2015 at the Cogan Leisure Centre in Penarth, the Welsh Karate League Finals were held. In the League there are a series of 9 competitions held throughout the year, at which competitors earn points for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in all the categories. At the end of the season, these points are tallied up to show the top three Champions throughout the year. Christopher Slack and Max Baker took bronze in the team kumite, with Christopher also winning a silver medal for parent and child kata. In the under 16 category, Alexandra Slack and Emma Squire won gold in pairs kata, with Alexandra winning the bronze medal in in the individual open kata and Emma gaining a second place in the overall kumite. Well done to all competitors – this is a great reward for all your hard work and dedication.
