Welcome & Ethos

I am delighted to be able to offer you a warm welcome to Stanwell.

Stanwell is a very special place with a long tradition of excellence and a position that is right at the heart of the local community. We are hugely proud of our pupils who develop as confident young people who are ready to make a positive contribution to society.

‘Learning to Excel’ is not only a summary of our mission statement, it is a way of life at Stanwell, as we work together to ensure students flourish. This is our vision for every child, whatever their starting point, interests or talents. We believe in every young person’s potential to succeed and put all our energy into ensuring they do so  in a caring and disciplined environment. Our commitment to securing excellence is built upon high quality teaching  and a strong emphasis on pastoral care and support. Students at Stanwell experience an abundance of extra-curricular opportunities that span the arts, music, drama and sport. Our young people are immensely proud of their school as are we immensely proud of all they achieve.

Success at any school is built on partnerships and paramount amongst these is the partnership between school and student. We strive to make sure students are supported at every turn and that they feel safe, secure and respected. In return we ask that they take an active role in their education and take responsibility for it. From inspiration in the classroom to the vast range of extra-curricular activities on offer, many of which are pupil-led, there is a huge window of opportunity available to them here. Our role is to help navigate these options, to make the most of every day and above all to have fun along the way.

Whether they are with us for five years, seven years or just two years in the sixth form, our aim is for your child to head out into the world confident and ready to contribute something new to it.

I trust you find our website useful and you get a feel for the character and values we share, however it is no substitute for a visit. I do hope we see you here soon.
