Congratulations to our 12 Year 12 students representing Stanwell School who were part of the winning team at the National finals of the UK Space Design competition at Imperial College London, over the weekend of 11-12 March 2023.

Our students joined 20 other schools from across the UK who were given the task of designing a future space settlement that would orbit at a  distance of 0.25 AU from the Sun (four times closer than Earth). Collaborating with four other schools they needed to propose solutions using their knowledge, skills and new research that would keep people in the settlement safe and productive from the harsh conditions that its position would entail.

Their teams design solution and presentation was judged the best, with the work of our students being highlighted in the overall summation. Hopefully one or two of our students will be invited to join ten students to compete in the international final in Florida, USA in August.
