GCSE Results Day 2023

Blog Header Image
24th Aug 2023

After the outstanding A and AS Level results of last week, it was the turn of Stanwell GCSE students to collect their grades and, once again, results day was a time of great celebration and success.

Across the cohort, 46% of all student achieved 5 A*-A grades, 92% achieved 5 A*-C, with 83% of all Year 11 students achieving a minimum of 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths.

There were also very many excellent individual performances with 33 students gaining straight A*\A grades in all of their GCSE courses. Holly Korinek, Osian Beynon, Nina Macdonald and William Ogden all achieved 14 A* grades plus a distinction star and Abi Cannon and Berrin Basar achieved 14 A* grades. The school are very proud of all of the students and, as always, there are too many superb individual achievements to highlight them all.

The many staff who attended school to congratulate students and help give out results and advice were delighted with the success of their pupils and also held in their thoughts Year 11 students Osian Jones, who underwent heart transplant surgery after being gravely ill for months and Seren Keegan-Smith, who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident earlier this year. All their teachers and peers are also thinking of Osian and Seren on this day of celebration and looking forward to the time when they are both able to return to school full time.

Ms L Bekker, Head of Year 11, said “it has been a pleasure to work with this fantastic group of students. They have shown maturity and determination to attain these excellent grades which will set them up for the next stage in their education.” Mr Rhys Macpherson, Head of Key Stage 4, said “the focus shown by students and staff throughout the GCSE courses on continuous improvement of skills and subject knowledge has paid off with this set of brilliant results for the year group. We are all really pleased for the students and their families and hope they enjoy celebrating together.”
