Ysgol Stanwell School Goes Green (Platinum Eco-Schools Award 2024)

We are pleased to announce two new zero-emissions machines to help us to continue to reduce our environmental impact, maintain standards and promote improved behaviours. The Eco-Schools Coordinator Miss Alice Thomas and members of the Student Eco Committee were thrilled to be able to welcome the new Alke Melex 391 Electric Truck that is replacing our old 2004 diesel site van and this will be used to collect bin bags and transport items around the site.This vehicle has an electric range of 37 miles and will ensure pollution levels on the school site are as low as possible. To complement this and ensure the school site remains a clean, safe and stimulating environment we have replaced our diesel powered exterior vacuum sweeper with the Karcher KM75/40W.   As recognition for our continued efforts to raise awareness of the importance of acting in a more eco-friendly  way have been acknowledged in being re-awarded the Keep Wales Tidy Platinum Eco-Schools Award again this month.
